AMAS Faculty Spotlight: Akiko Yamashita- 3D Projection Mapping Artist

Akiko Yamashita

is a highly skilled and globally recognized Animator and 3D Projection Mapping Artist from Japan. She works as a lead animator at VT Production Design, a full service creative design firm with a focus on the latest technology and techniques in Los Angeles, California. She has U.S. O-1B Visa, individuals with extraordinary ability in the arts. She created artworks for Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment, United Nations, Pharrell Williams at Coachella Music Festival, LinkedIn commercial, new year's countdown at Los Angeles City Hall, Greystone Mansion and more.


What is "Projection Mapping"?

 

Projection mapping is a technology used to turn objects, often irregularly shaped, into a display surface for video projection. 

These objects may be complex industrial landscapes, such as buildings, small indoor objects or theatrical stages.
