Daniel Berard

Daniel Berard is currently the Director of Bands at Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins, Colorado, where he is responsible for all aspects of the large and vibrant band program, including the Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble 1, Jazz Ensemble 2, Marching Band and a thriving chamber music program. Mr. Berard was on the "core team" that opened Fossil Ridge High School in the fall of 2004, served as the Performing Arts Chair from 2004-2015 and is proud of the explosive growth, innovation and excellence in performance that the music department at FRHS has become know for.  The Fossil Ridge Band program has received the “National Programs of Excellence – Blue Ribbon Award” from the National Band Association.

Mr. Berard received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and Master of Music degrees in Music Education and Instrumental Conducting from Colorado State University, where he studied with Dr. J. Steven Moore and Wes Kenny. Prior to his current position at Fossil Ridge, Mr. Berard led successful programs at Ponderosa and Douglas County High Schools, and has also served on the instructional staff for several Drum & Bugle Corps, including The Madison Scouts, The Cavaliers, and currently, The Cadets.

Mr. Berard is 1 of 17 directors nation-wide to be named a Yamaha Master Educator, is active as a clinician, adjudicator and conductor, and has presented at numerous clinics and conventions across the country. He is a member of the Colorado Bandmasters Association, the Colorado Music Educators Association, Phi Beta Mu, the National Band Association and the National Association for Music Education. Mr. Berard has received the National Band Association Citation of Excellence, and in 2012 was named one of the "50 Directors Who Make a Difference" by School Band & Orchestra Magazine

The Fossil Ridge Wind Symphony has consistently received "Superior with Distinction" honors at the Colorado State Concert Band Festival, has twice been selected to perform at the CMEA Convention, and was a featured ensemble at the 2012 and 2016 Music For All National Concert Band Festival. The marching band is a two-time state champion, and has won the "High Music Performance" award at the Colorado marching band state championships for seven consecutive years.
